Beard And Mustache Transplant Techniques

The beard and mustache transplant is almost identical to the hair transplant procedure. The only difference is that there is more than one technique in a hair transplant surgery. For instance, there are DHI and FUE. However, the DHI technique is the most used and recommended for beard and mustache transplants.

There are three main techniques used in beard and mustache transplants, which are:

1. DHI Technique:

It is the best technique for beard and mustache hair transplant, in which follicles are harvested from the donor area via the Micro Motor to be implanted directly in the recipient area by a CHOI Implanter. Only with one click the doctor can open a channel and implant the follicle at once. The process takes around 6-8 hours, transplanting a maximum of 3.500 hair follicles.

There are three main techniques used in beard and mustache transplants, which are:

2. Mega DHI Technique:

The Choi pens are used to execute the Mega DHI technique over two sessions on two consecutive days. The Mega DHI technique allows a maximum of 7.000 hair follicles to be transplanted, giving the hair more density and attractiveness.

3. Extremely DHI Technique:

Extremely DHI technique goes through the same stages as the DHI technique. However, it enables the doctor to transplant up to 5.000 follicles for 12-15 hours over a session.

Candidates For Beard And Mustache Transplantation

There are some conditions that one should meet to become a good candidate for a beard and mustache transplant, and these are as follows:

Beard And Mustache Transplantation Stages

The stages of beard and mustache transplantation are very similar to the steps of hair transplantation on the scalp. It is as follows:

  1. Clinical examination: At this stage, the density of the donor area and the bald areas on the chin are defined. The number of grafts and hair follicles to be harvested is determined.
  2. Medical tests: Carrying out all the necessary tests, including blood and skin tests, to ensure the patient is suitable for the operation.
  3. Preparation for the harvesting: The donor area is shaved to harvest the hair follicles then the patient is given local anesthesia.
  4. Harvesting the hair follicles: The healthy hair follicles are being harvested from the donor area via a Micro Motor to be placed in the saline solution, which can preserve them until they are transplanted to the recipient area.
  5. Implantation stage: The follicles are placed in Choi Pens, and with only one click, the channels are opened, then the follicles are implanted simultaneously.
