What Is A Buttock Augmentation Operation

Buttock augmentation, also known as BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift), is an FDA-approved plastic surgery that relies mainly on autologous fat injection. Autologous fat injection means sucking fat from different areas of the body, where fat is accumulated (according to the surgeon’s vision), and then transferring and injecting it into the buttocks. This procedure is also known as a self-fat injection. This fat transfer not only adds volume to the buttocks but also eliminates the accumulated excess fat in unwanted areas.

There is also another type of buttock augmentation operation, which is done by fillers. The fillers are silicon butt implants placed in the buttocks area to give the buttocks an enhanced, rounder, and more natural look. Buttock augmentation surgery primarily aims to enhance or lift the buttocks area to make it seem more attractive and rounder.

This cosmetic procedure can also treat asymmetrical body shapes. Some people face asymmetrical body forms, such as one side of the buttock being more significant than the other or sagging skin on the buttocks. Due to the patient’s condition and desires, the plastic surgeon decides what method will be used, either buttock implants, buttock enhancement by fat grafting, or buttock lift.

Techniques Used In Buttock Augmentation Operation

Auto-Fat Technology to Enlarge the Buttocks

This technique is safe, as no unfamiliar objects are introduced into the body. Instead, the doctor injects fat that he takes from the body by liposuction with Vaser technology from areas where fat accumulates. Then, a medical team purifies the fat and separates it from blood and water. The extracted fats are injected into the buttocks area by microneedles.

This technique mostly does not cause health problems or severe side effects since the injected fat is extracted from the body. Keep in mind that although the procedure includes liposuction, buttock augmentation is not a weight loss surgery.

Fillings Technology to Enlarge the Buttocks

The fillings for the buttock area are silicone fillings. Unlike the self-fat injection procedure, these silicones are surgically inserted in the buttocks. These fillings address small or flabby butt problems. The surgeon makes a small surgical incision above the butt muscles, then inserts the fillings into this area to enlarge the buttocks and give them a natural look.

Candidates For Buttocks Augmentation Operation

There are some conditions that the patient must meet to have a buttock augmentation operation. Some of these conditions are as follows:

  1. The person undergoing Buttocks Augmentation must be in good health and not suffer from any diseases that prevent them from operating.
  2. Those who suffer from inconsistent buttock size, where one side is smaller than the other.
  3. Those who suffer from a small size of butt and want to enlarge it.
  4. Those who suffer from prolapsing the buttocks area due to sagging.
  5. Those who suffer from atrophy in the butt muscles make them inconsistent in size.

Since losing weight may lead to the dissolution of the surgery results, those who undergo Buttocks Augmentation should not plan to lose weight in the future.

Pre- Buttock Augmentation Operation Tips

  • Stop smoking at least six weeks before the surgery.
  • Refrain from taking aspirin, ibuprofen, and herbal supplements, as they cause bleeding during the surgery.
  • Follow all the instructions and advice given by the doctor before the surgery.
  • Buttock augmentation surgeries are often conducted at outpatient clinics. That is why you must come with a companion to accompany you home after the surgery.
  • Ensure that you choose a board-certified plastic surgeon and a qualified clinic for the operation.

Post- Buttock Augmentation Operation Tips

After the surgery, you must adhere to the doctor’s instructions to have a quick and healthy recovery time. Some of these instructions are as follows:

  • Refrain from sitting or sleeping on the butt for long periods, at least a week after the operation.
  • Wear the special corset for the buttocks operation for at least three weeks.
  • Refrain from exercises or activities that require significant effort until at least a month after the surgery.
  • Be careful not to lose significant weight, so the butt does not lose the fatty packets implanted.
  • Continue to exercise special aerobics for the butt so the surgery results last at least ten years.

Stages of Buttock Augmentation Surgery by Self-Fat Injection

  • Preparation Stage: The doctor examines the entire buttocks area to determine your problem’s nature and specify how he will operate during the surgery.
  • Anesthesia Stage: The patient is completely anesthetized upon entering the operating room.
  • Determination Stage: The doctor determines the areas of the body where the fat accumulates and will operate liposuction from those areas to be re-injected in the butt.
  • Liposuction Stage: The doctor uses Vaser technology to suck the fat from the identified areas where the fat is accumulated to give the body a harmonious shape.
  • Fat Injection Stage: The purified fat that has been separated from blood and water is put in very fine needles. Then, they are injected again in the buttocks to enlarge it. The surgeon always considers that the buttocks should be circular and suit the general body shape.
  • Resuscitation Stage: Buttock Augmentation surgery with self-fat injection takes approximately one or two hours, depending on the nature and circumstances of the operation.

Stages of Buttock Augmentation Surgery by Fillings

The technique of buttocks augmentation with fillers is similar to the technique of buttocks augmentation with self-fat injection at all stages except one stage:

  • Incision and Insertion

The doctor opens a small surgical incision in the lower area of the buttocks and then inserts the silicone filler into the buttocks. The filling is placed directly under the skin or the muscles, and the doctor determines this at his discretion.
